Rodents are very active in Sydney
Winter is here and so are the rodents.
“Rodent season” – as known in the industry – is here.
Just like you and I, rats and mice are looking to be nice and warm, unfortunately this means moving indoor to our homes.
Our homes make prefect nesting grounds as there is plenty of food, water and with most homes now with insulation.
Recent rain in Sydney hasn’t helped, as our team are taking an increase of phone calls/bookings more than ever before from concerned customers across all areas of Sydney wanting rodent treatment and or suspicion of rodents in there family homes.
1 in 3 calls coming through right now is for rodents.
Southwest Sydney is just one area, where our customer service team has received an influx of calls from residential home owners wanting rodent treatment. This is due to of course the cooler weather, rain but also due to the vast amount of land development around the area are driving rodents into our homes.
If you are seeing droppings in your homes or hear scratching in the walls and roof, it is likely this time of year that unwelcome guests have made your home there’s.
Most recently one of our technicians visited a family home in Harrington grove, Southwest Sydney, where the home owner gave reports of starching noises in the roof of his home.
Upon the technician’s assessment of the property and speaking to the customer, we quickly identified rodent activity. The surprise of the customer came when our technician showed the level of activity and damage that rodents can cause.
The photo below shows rodents eating through the sarking in a roof void to gain assess into the property where they find warm places to nest.

What many customers do not know, is that rats can cause a lot of damage to our homes.
They are known to gnaw on electrical wires, which could potentially cause fires.
Our technician went to work placing tamper proof rodent bait boxes to the roof void of the home. Three stations were installed into the roof, in around where rodent activity evidence was most seen.
Our technician then with all our rodent services did a follow up visit 7 to 10 days after.
To the delight of the customer and his family the bait was being consumed by the rodents and that there has been no more scratching noises from this roof.
