Are Termites in your home?
We have been receiving a number of phone calls recently for termite inspections and termite treatments for Sydney homes.
Last week our office received a phone call from a concerned customer who had found something strange while moving some old stored items.
The customer called us very concerned thinking that he may have termites. We were able to get one of our technicians out to the site who conducted a timber pest inspection and confirmed the client had indeed an termite infestation.
The customer was both surprised and disappointed. He was surprised as he thought there were no termites in close to Sydney’s CDB and disappointed that he had never had an inspection because of this.
It might not look like much, but the picture shows a brick wall and those brown lines you can see are termite mud leads. It’s a tunnel they build themselves to protect themselves from the outside environment.
Here you can see termite damage to the door frame leading into the cellar.
Once we inspected the roof void we found that there was also a lot of damage there also.
In the picture below you can see what looks like a big ball of mud, that’s been constructed by the termites attacking the home.
The termites in this home had been active for some time.
After we completed our termite inspection we were able to gain a good understanding of the activity and the work involved in control.
How much does it cost for a Termite Treatment?
Customers often ask us how much is it to kill termites? The answer to that will vary.
We need to determine the species of termite, the extent of the activity and also the construction method of the structure.
This is all done during a timber pest inspection.
Amalgamated Pest Control – Termite Treatment to the rescue
We formulated a Property Management Plan for our customer giving him all the possible treatment methods available to control these termites in this structure.
The good news is that this home is well on its way to being termite free.
How often should you get a Termite Inspection?
Timber Pest Inspections should be done on an annual basis unless otherwise recommended to be done more frequently due to conditions or geographical location of your property. It’s crucially important that these are done.
All too often we see customers who have not had one carried out for many years. By the time they realise they have a problem, termites have usually caused thousands of dollars of damage.
Having regular termite inspections will pick up activity before they have a chance to cause significant structural damage.
